Todays article is about mouth guards.

So what happens when you're riding along at 30 or so and take a corner and spill. Lots of things. One thing that happens to be both instinct and accidental is the clashing of your teeth.

Broken and chipped teeth not only hurt, they can cost a bundle of bucks to get fixed. A cap on a tooth can easily cost upwards of $500. Now I know a lot of you out there have dental coverage through work or from parents so you're not worried about the cost. But cost isn't the only concern.

What happens if you lose front teeth? Not only does it hurt, but now you have a gaping hole for the world to see.

But what if it's not the teeth that you injure? What happens if you bite down on your cheek or on your tongue? That can lead to some serious discomfort, especially with eating and drinking.

A quick check and I see that sportmart offers a mouth guard for the simple cost of $4.99 plus taxes. They also come with a $1600 dental warranty. They even have models for people with braces.

There are many different kinds of mouth guards, I'm sure one type is better than another but that is not what this article is about. This article is simply about having one to avoid the issues of mouth injury.

Don't you think $5 is worth saving your teeth and mouth from damage? There really is no excuse for not having one.

Yes a mouthguard, obviously you didn't bother to read the article or you would have read that while a helmet is mandatory, it will won't protect your teeth from smashing into each other in the event of your head/helmet meeting the pavement at high velocity.

One post on the forum and you're already not being a productive member. Nicely done.

not really.. it was productive.. no where did you mention that the user should also wear a helmet... you know how kids are the days... they might read this and think its ok to just wear a mouth guard

It may not say it , but if you notice which topic area you are under its "Articles"!
Your not to be riding these things without helmets , which is perhaps in another thread . Excuse how short i am being with ya , its just comments like ya made that get arguements started in a forum intended for information . I spend alot of DAM time answering questions and helping newcomers with there problems, YES even questions that have been answered and asked over 100 times . It gets un-nerving to see suggestions being bashed when you could have spent another 5 minutes actually reading to know before you ask . I have worked BIG time on this sport , and KNOW all of you are riding these on the street , or where YOU think your allowed ! I know this because if ya came to my lot rides with only a mouth guard , you wouldn't be even unpacking the car . It has been stated that a

jeans
elbow pads
knee pads
long sleeve shirt
high top sneakers
and new this year .... back protectors !
this is the bare minimum !
Most of the team riders ride full leathers . We find it to be a life saver !

uhmm... yeah just for info. you can get dentist made mouthguards for $40 and they suction cup to your teeth...i use one for hockey... the game i didn't. i chipped my tooth...hurt like a mother *f*iretr*ucker*

altho im not sure about in this sport as i have not had it happen to me racing Mini-Moto's but i raced motocross for a long time and i have done some pretty major damaged to my teeth. From the sheer impact your upper and lower jaw can go through when you crash hard is enough to chip and in some cases smash a tooth or more
