I hear ya... my dad was not much fun to be around if you got on his bad side. But he would definately do what he could for ya when you needed him. Always there... not sure what I would've been like without his strick hand.
I find I'm becoming my dad... inspite of what I said to myself growing up. I do have a tendancy to try and give my kids things they want... but not without having to work for them first. My 8 year old has work his little butt off for his pocket bike and I am glad to support him in whatever I can do to help him with it... short of buying everything.
