Default cuts out after upgraded HELP!

i just bought a pipe, plug, and k&n style filter upgrade kit for my new (less than 2 hours) MTA1. after i installed those it now cuts out at about mid to upper throttle. if i let off when it cuts out it will stay running, but if i just stay on it, it will die. seems to me like it's not getting enough fuel? i dropped the jet needle one groove (raiased it up) and that didn't help. do i just need a bigger jet now? any suggestions? THANKS

Sounds like the main jet may be blocked. Take the carb off, take off the float bowl, unscrew the main jet and give it a good cleaning with some fuel, you should even go over it with an air compressor or can of compressed air, just to get any little bits of junk out, then give it a soak in gas.

Hope this helps,

You probably just need to rejet it because you changed the stock pipe that the stock carb was tuned to.

i cleaned the carb (twice), then started to replacing the upgraded parts one at a time w/ the stock parts (running it after each one) no luck, even after i put back all the stock parts. i finally took the pet-cock apart and reasembled it. now it run fine. the pet-cock was the promblem, must have been the rubber disk inside twisted up or something.
i haven't even tried the upgraded parts again. when i do i'll post the results. THANKS.
