thats called a primer, not all bikes have those. and choke up for starting and down for riding(sometimes you have to leave the choke on till the bike is warm)

hey Im new here too, and I have a little 33cc scooter, I got it at a garage sale, and It seems to not really work, it dosent go very fast and its annoying. Anyone know how I could get it to work better? also im wondering how many times you should prime the engine before useing. Thanks!

Well that depends, if it's a cold start or not. Also there is not a right amount to prime the engine. If you have a hard time starting your scooter clean the carb.
For the annoying part, why did you buy a scooter instead of a pocket bike?

Good Luck

uh I don't have alot of money, so I can't afford a pocket bike. Trust me I would LOVE one but the scooter is cheaper
