Default gearing/upgrades for PT

ok since that i just bought a bike, i am going to be on here ALOT, so this is my question thread and ask people opinion thread..

now i have been reading all night, and the one thing that caught my eye was the gearing section... i have been playing with them all night, and its great fun! i think the ration i want with the sprocket and pinion i want would be around:

Pinion: 8
Sprocket: 60
Ratio: 7.5:1
Resulting speed: 39.68 MPH (59.5 KPH)

what do people think of this configuration?

Of course it all depends on weight (rider weight) and your application. You can gear a bike to go 70kph but if you are on a track with lots of sharp turns then you'll be last because that gearing won't give you any available power at the bottom end.

Please remember that all that info is just math. That doesn't exactly mean that's how things will perform in the real world. I (and honestly probably you) don't know how many RPM's your motor will run at. So basing it off the 10,000 mark could be way off. I just used 10,000 as a baseline.

Things like fuel, air quality, elevation, air density, tire resistance, wind resistance, frontal area, drag coefficient and so much more can affect that math it's crazy. That article should only be used as a guideline for how much gearing can affect your overall speed and gearing choice.

I'm not trying to sound mean or anything by the above, I just want you to understand that the article isn't perfect by any means.

totally understandable, a million and 1 different factors could affect it! it just sounded good at the time.. this is why i post these questions before doing anything, hell, its going to be at least another 2 - 3 weeks before i get my bike, damn shipping... i am just trying to research as much as i can before i get it...

just so you know, if you have that kind of gearing on your bike you better have afew clutches on hand. with that kind of gearing it will have more resistance and the clutch will wear away like nothing. theres an upgrade the some poeple get and thats a self cooling clutch bell and that so you don't over heat your clutch... so if you have 8-60 for gearing you'll have a hot clutch after the day is done... thats if you have a clutch left over
