Default Sprocket Performance

One of the first upgrades i will be doing on my bike will be the sprocket. Question is whats the best combination for me to use without having to do major engine and clutch upgrades etc so it doesn't tear itself up. I know the current pinion is a 6 tooth and afaik the rear is a 68 tooth (will make sure in the morning). Ive been browsing the forums and haven't see alot of info concerning this. Chances are i will be just replacing the rear sprocket for now and possibly the front to a 7 or 8 tooth later when\if i get more mods installed. So what would be my best bet for a rear sprocket to run now on a stock bike, keep in mind i don't want to lose all bottom end but would like to see a noticeable difference in top speed.

i checked this morning and the sprocket is a 68.I Notice in the parts manual though that they list rear sprockets from 54 to 65 ! would it be ok to put say a 60 on this thing? if so would i see much of a difference?

1 tooth extra on the front pinion is like like adding 3 to the back, 1 run 7/68 and my wifes is 6/68,here is alittle faster on take off but i get her on top end

just go to a 7 tooth on the front if you have to change gearing, imo leave the 6/68 gearing you have now,if you only change the front pinion you won`t have to get another chain or resize your chain also changing gearing hurts either your top end or take off if you want it to top out at a faster speed ,you hurt your take off,if you want it to take off faster, you hurt your top speed

i have an addictive personality and usually end up doing more then required so i suspect by the end of the summer this thing may have a bunch of mods including the big bore kit. I was actually looking for mods even before the bike arrived lol. This is suitable for the pinion gear?

i would just buy the clutch bell/pinion ,it comes all together so you won`t have to try to get your old pinion out and switch, buying the clutch bell/pinion all you have to do is take 4 screws out, cake the bell off ,put your new one back, easy!and you will have a spare bell!
