| Pocketbike Lord | Pitster Pro Canadian National Mini RoadRacing Series: CMA National Event Round #4 Martensville, SK Hosted by the SMRA September 1-2, 2007 96 Class entries attended Round #4 of the Pitster Pro Canadian National Mini RoadRacing Series hosted by the Saskatchewan Mini Roadracing Association (SMRA) in the community of Martensville, located 10 minutes outside of Saskatoon SK. Long distance entries include the Rivercity Pocketbike Crew out of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Mini RoadRacing Icon ‘Big Bone’ out of Visalia, California.... ![]() By Bigbone57 ImageShack - Hosting :: img1494lz2.jpg With entries from across North America the Pocketbike 40 cc Class and the Pocketbike Open Class are definite crowd favorites. With the largest fields to date for the 2007 season competition is truly intense. For spectators used to seeing the clash of two wide racing , expectations are exceeded as these smaller but no less intense machines often run 3 wide into corners. Race #1 of the Pocketbike Open saw Chris Mah of Edmonton get an early lead with the competition going into the square 5 bikes wide. Brendon Schmidt (AMRA) has to work hard to keep the youth leader from getting away. At the halfway flag leaders encounter lap traffic and with incredible skill the racers weave their way through the back markers. Mah gets the win, followed by Schmidt. Race #2: Mah gets a great line off the start, this time Schmidt is with the youth all the way. Soon three groups appear, Mah and Schmidt, Gil Johnson and Davis Blundell, and Jared Frizell, Ryan Hykway and Vernon Stevens. With no room for error in any of the groups the racing is spectacular. Lap 5, the leaders encounter traffic, this time experience raises its head and Schmidt gets the lead as he works his way through the pack with Mah pulling in close behind. Johnson and Blundell make their way cleanly through the pack with no change of position. Despite the intense drive of the competition no change in position occurs for the remainder of the race. Finishing order for Race # 2, Brendon Schmidt- 1st , Chris Mah - 2nd and Gil Johnson - 3rd , with event results Schmidt - 1st, Mah - 2nd and Blundell - 3rd. Overall Standings see Schmidt and his GRC with a unbreakable lead going into Round #5, Chris Mah holds a strong second and one point separates third and forth places. | Pocketbike Dealer | GRC takes two more podiums over this long weekend in Martensville Saskatchewan! While the weather on Saturday was really windy with Tornado warnings for most of the day and night, Sunday turned into a beautiful Saskatchewan day and perfect for a little racing action to begin. This was one of the largest turn outs for pocket bikes in Western Canada this season with riders from all over Alberta, Manitoba, and even from California. It was an unreal event with the front runners within a tenth of a second apart all the way around the track. As Big Bone said, “throw a blanket over them all and see who comes out in the end.” Grinn and Barrett’s GRC Moto Racing team took two Podiums, one 1st place by #13 Brendon Schmidt in the 50cc Open Class. The other podium was a 2nd Place taken by GRC Rider Elias Fernuik from Winnipeg in the youth 8-10 class. An honorable mention was given to Elias for his 2nd place in the youth 10-14 class, but he was not awarded points as he is only 8 years old. On a little bit of a sad note four of our fellow PB racers encountered some bad luck on their way out to this event in the form of a near fatal car accident with one of our GRC teammates. Dax Sharples is in stable condition in hospital in Calgary and his three children are at home mending broken bones and some fairly serious road rash. If anyone is in the position to help out to get this family back on their feet and out to the races this help would be greatly appreciated by Dax and his family. Saskatchewan Mini Road Racing Association collected through the 50/50 raffle and has donated $460.00. Grinn and Barrett Motosports will be replacing the damaged bikes for the youngest children. Anyone wishing to help to get this family of pocket bike enthusiasts back on their feet and back on the track, please contact me at GrinnandBarrett@telus.net.

You make me proud to be your friend. Dang whatta Guy that Gil....Now thats what I've been wanting to see and hear from the very first day I posted on this forum...And I gotta thank a few people for slightly bending the rules a bit in favor of me, because I have slightly bent a few rules. That said....AdminDude, and to all moderators from tip to tail thanks for allowing me do what I did without spanking my hands....I think its obvious now that things are working as well as can be expected. The Boys have come a long way in a very short period of time. Everyone partisapated for the good of the sport and spotsmenship alike. And "Now" this... I am so lucky to have Friends like these. Thank you all so much....And I promise not to slightly bend any more cough cough...rules (note to self: Oh you've got to be kidding about "slightly bending the rules thing!...Yeah I am!) | |
