Default New guy in the 'peg.

Hey. I just ordered one of these things after riding my cousin's and thinkin': ''Damn, this thing is pretty cool''. Mine should be in shortly, and although it's probably slower than everyone elses, I'd like to get right into it and take it to the next level. I live in the 'peg, but none of my buddies have a bike, so I have no one to ride/build/modify with. I notice a bunch of you are from Wpg, so do you have like organized meets and stuff, or just go ride whenever/whenever?

Firstly welcome to the forum.

Ice racing should start soon, however due to the warmth we've been having lately it's a bit of an issue.

Keep watching for updates however.

welcome pitsrule. update, the truck is done and the tank is in and when i apply water to ground it goes everywhere. we need freezing snow to make a hard pack. as you know most of you that is, i am working at the redwood bridge and i am looking at building a track there. need the permission from waterways. the federal govt. buch of boneheads. the ice is only 6" thick so we need more cold. keep you up to date on the redwood deal as i find anything out. CHIN UP SLAWN, IT WILL HAPPEN

Default ice ice baby

here are a couple of problems that i ran into when i was building my ice track which i had to give up on. you said that you had a problem with the water running everywhere. well what you do for that is you havbe the hard packed snow but you spray water on it so it becomes like ice then the water shouldnt go everywhere. What you also do is you put the water on in thin layers which i think is what you are doing because if you do it in puddles you are gonna have another problem the temp. difference with cause a bit of it to evaporate but since there allready is a thin layer ontop it will be trapped and start to crystalize then thats no good.

I don't know how familiar you are with river ice, but at 6" you can drive a car on it.

Yes the ice needs to be done in layers to prevent crystalization and also to keep the water from pooling. The best way to build the track would be with a wood frame to keep the water in. Even if the hard packed sides are frozen, they will start to thaw when sprayed with water.

Either way, you all need studs to go racin! We're kind of limited at the moment with only having about 5500 studs in stock

note - With that many studs in stock in that size, that makes us the biggest supplier in winnipeg for ice screws.. yay us! If you can find another company in the city of Winnipeg that has more 3/8" studs than us I'll give you a 15% discount on a set of studs.

As far as I know they're sitting here for you. Talk with Kris and he should be able to arrange something for you.
