| hello everyone and welcome to my tutorial on how to change your starter prawl. You may recognize me from another tutorial on trouble shooting if your bike is stalling. Now shall we continue. 1. First thing is first make sure your front fairing is off. 2. Locate each of the screws on the pull starter and unscrew ![]() 3. Locate the Screw in the middle and take it out. ![]() Note: You may have some difficulty in taking it off thats why huckster and noted a while ago that you should use a impact screwdriver. But if you are like me a simple minded person who finds a way around anything I could, you can also use some needle nose Vise Grips. 4. Take out the spring next 5. Take out the starter Prawl by twisting it out counter-clockwise and gentally lifting it at the same time. 6. Then take out the little white thing (could someone pm me what it is called please) Here is what all of the Parts Should look like: ![]() 7. Then take your new prawl and put it in, it should just turn in there nice and easily 8. Put the white thing back in, it should fit into the 2 inserts located on the inside of the prawl. 9. Drop the Spring back in 10. On the screw you will need lock tight so get some of that and put some lock tight on the last few threads because it will come to the top as you are screwing it in. 11. Next you can screw the starter back onto the engine remember these screw placements. ![]() Incase you were wondering the S.E.R stands for Shawn Emery Racing

| Better than average | yea, and if the metal coil on the bottom flips out and you have to rewind that... :x i had to do that like three times cuz i put it on the wrong way and be sure to have the pointed parts of the white piece facing up. Just a couple of suggestions

| Pocketbike Master | Ok bring back the old tutorial. How to recoil the spring. Its preety easy. I will post a pic next time. All you have to do is recoil it right on the pulley itself and slap it back on the casing. It is much easier than recoiling it right on the casing. It takes 2 mintues to put it back together. Good Luck.

| Administrator Friends call me God ;) | I've actually been planning a recoil tutorial but with a video. I think it would be a lot easier for people to see what's going on with video for that than with pictures. Now I just need to get my recoil expert, a recoil and a camera together at the same time. |

| Pocketbike Freak | hey guys,,, whats i found the best way to rewind the starter coil is to wind it inside the white spool... dont try to wind it inside the housing or by hand... just put it in the one side of the white spool where it came off of.. and careful turn it so it will coil back in.. then make sure the last part of the coil (the hook) is overtop the hole and drop it onto the post..carefuly..then turn it backwards until it hooks..and boom done..it takes a bit of practice.. |
