Quackery and ignorance So today I was surfing and found a site by accident. The site is called "deepscience". After reading what I thought was material I need for an upcoming article I decided to rename the site "deepignorance".
Ignorance abounds in our society, and it's not usually the persons fault. It's simply because the person who decided to speak isn't knowledgeable on the subject he/she is speaking about.
The article was on 2strokes vs 4strokes and the advantages and disadvantages of each. However the author is his ignorance does not fully understand how a 2stroke works so he makes assumptions and gets a number of things wrong or at least makes incorrect uninformed opinions.
His theories on 2 strokes are taken from 4 stroke operations and adapted for his own use. We all know the two motors work differently. In fact they work so differently that one cannot make a direct comparison in many aspects because the same part does not function the same way in both types of motors.
The point of this post (and yes, I'm still learning myself) is that unless you know what you're doing with a 2stroke, you can't assume you know what it is you're talking about. Don't take advice from people that have looked under the hood of a car twice in their life. Don't listen to people who only think they know what they're talking about and have no technical knowledge of what they're talking about.
Educate yourself, ask the right questions to the right people. That's what this forum is for. |
