Default Scooter Wireing Please Help

i just got my buddies gas scooter (47cc) with electric start and all the wires are missing. it has the battery, and i wired the horn and head light, but i dont think they can go right on the battery. what must i do/get to get it so they can be properly wired . the stock 2 inches of wire off the horn and lights are very small, so the 12v from the batt may fry them????? Thanks for any help
