Default new location for events?

I'm going out tomorrow or friday to check it out, but I just spoke with St. Andrew's Airport about using their place for a track. I thought it would be a great way to have a big track closer to the city.

We are able to go if we want, however it does not come free. I'll have to talk to him when I'm there about rental costs but at the moment the regular fee is $300 per day. For that fee we get the entire runway, which would be one heck of a track! Seriously though, I'll work on him for pricing.

Another possibility is leasing land from them for building a track which I'll speak to him about when I'm there.

Exactly, 15bux a person is cheap. And it's 8 miles past the perimiter, which should be easy enough for everyone to get to.

I'll be finding out more info by friday.

i flew out of St andrews when i was a student pilot. are they goin to rent you the runway they don't use anymore?? i don't know if you have seen it, its in pretty rough shape. unless its been patched since the last time i was there.

if its been fixed that is a great idea!!!

I did a little research, and I think that space may be an issue there. The runways at St Andrews are only 75 feet wide. Contrast that with Gimli, which is 150 feet wide.

Cost is great, though. We should be able to make racing there affordable.

Hopefully the runway is in better condition than it appears from the air. I am pretty sure it has been out of use since 1997 or so. It has been a couple years for me, but last time I saw it it was full of cracks with weeds growing out of them. Still, it has potential. I think we just might have to use it as an excuse to buy mini-motards.

I'm going out there by friday, I'll let everyone know by then. If it's crap then i'll tell him it's crap and ask for it for free just for our troubles. It won't bother me if he says no.
