Default racing question

hey guys I think I'm in a pickle here... I was talking to a dealer in my town and he was telling me that most of the bikes he sold were confisceted by the cops so my question is how hard would it be to start up some racing out here?? I just don't want any legal action to happen to everyone that has a pb

They cannot be illegal completely, they are "off road competition vehicles" which are mandated by transport canada. Of course there can be laws regarding where not to ride them, but there is always one place where no one can stop them. The track.

I don't know your area/town, but go ahead and talk to a few businesses with large parking lots that are not used on Sunday afternoons. Ask them if you can use their lot to ride in. Go ahead and call the local police/rcmp and ask if there are any town ordinances against riding there. With written permission on private land and assurance of the law, there is no reason that a group of people could not have a great time and enjoy their pocketbikes.

I'd like to invite you to come to Winnipeg (Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!) this weekend for our races and you can see how they operate here. There are waivers for riders to sign and we have a minimum safety equipment requirement. This isn't just for the protection of the rider, it's also for the protection of the land owner.

As for how hard could it be to start the racing? Once you have the law and the land, ask local businesses to place some flyers in their windows. Print them off from your computer or your local copy shop. It can easily be done on a low budget with volunteers.

That's the issue, even the stickers on the bike say "off road competition vehicle". Which means NOT on the roads. If it takes fines and confiscation to get these guys to learn then that's the price they have to pay.

It's a learning experience.

but why should we pay for their mistakes?? it makes the whole pb world look bad... so what if some kid wanted to get one and their parents told them that they couldn't get one cuz someone the week before got hit by a car... it hurts everyone in the end

Yes it does hurt everyone in the end, that's unfortunate. All you can do now is move on and do your best to give them somewhere legal to ride.
